The GraveStaker

Child of

Physical Perpetuity & Psychological Trance

A Dweller who lost their personal purpose in the carnage of war.
"I'm alive because my eternity lost its meaning in front of me."

Wields a Load Application of decoupled physical inertia.
Diffusing outward puts The GraveStaker in a decoupled state, where all external forces cannot transfer momentum to their body.
Being struck by the impact of a bullet or the shockwave of an explosion, will instantaneously proportionally increase the rate of outward diffusion to absorb the force.
Repeatedly being struck will slowly ramp up the amount of momentum transferred to their body.
Devastating hits such as artillery will immediately transfer a portion of the momentum and increase the momentum transferred of following impacts.
Pushing and pulling is aided by the decoupled state, allowing actions to be performed without resistance, but also proportionally increasing the rate of outward diffusion to sustain the interaction.
The longer an action is sustained, the less the decoupled state will ignore resistance for said action.
The more an interaction is physically demanding, the faster the decoupled state will acknowledge the resistance.

Overview

The Gravestaker was born in one of the many undersides with an uninteresting upbringing. With no recollection of his early life, G wandered the underside as an abandoned adolescent, stealing food, avoiding Nation policemen, and defending himself from gangs and thugs. He was later adopted by an ill miner (who we’ll refer to as P) who had cornered and caught him after G had attempted to steal his meal. P saw G as a lost, unguided child, deciding to take him knowing he had not much left nor time to live. P’s condition had worsened throughout the years. He told stories of the surface, a beautiful existence with no ceiling and a massive light in the sky, housing things they could never imagine. G was shown decrepit books of the surface and a few photographs containing flowers, catching his eye. As G progressed toward adulthood, he was taught by his new parent how to mine, handle explosives, and creating and maintaining your own crude tools, now working as a miner; although, he didn’t give up on his dishonest ways. During one of G’s explorations in old abandoned mining projects, he discovers a small cramped opening that leads to small skylight chamber, containing water flow mimicking a miniature river, a small patch of grass, but most importantly, a small, chronically wilting flower illuminated by the needle of skylight. With the chamber as a peaceful retreat, He spends years observing the flower and making the place like home. Eventually, the Underside draft comes for him as the start of a new war begins, which he disregards the severity of as everything regarding it has been only rumors, Dwellers don’t know war. G sees this as the perfect opportunity to finally see the surface, to see flowers, and escape from the confined depths. He wishes P farewell, promising he’ll come back for him and bring him to the surface. He and amongst many others, are sloppily trained in firearms and warfare, only taking a week. They are herded onto a supermassive pulley elevator, G had never imagined ever stepping foot on it. As anticipation rose on the ride up, they are soon greeted with a castle gate, leading to the outside. Solders yelled for clearance and the doors were slowly drawn open, only to reveal an armored train which they were to board. There was no sky to be seen, only the metal hull of the locomotive. G was confused whether or not they had arrived at the surface, bur decided to step in. G was woken up an hour before the train doors were planned to open, murmurs of Dweller soldiers suffocated the train, speaking about the war and surface, which they still haven’t seen. G sat there with excited anticipation and nervousness. They were soon lined up ready facing the exits of the armored train. The heavy metal doors fell open and the sound of the surface rushed in. G experienced the horrors of war, scrambling around like he was once in the Undersides. There was still darkness, still a ceiling, and still barren earth beneath him. He dives into a ditch to take cover from an artillery barrage, lying inside a destroyed field of poppies and beside a small intact patch which he takes notice to. G unlocks his vestibule.

The Gravestaker wields a massive hydraulic warhammer that houses an internal pile driver, monstrously physically larger than its wielder. The head of the hammer opens up via a trigger to expose the pile driver which can be slammed into opponents and released to leave a giant metal stake in them. The back of the stakes, holds a primer which can be struck by the hammer after being closed. to cause an explosion.
3X72in hollow steel foundation stakes are fitted with a casing, filled with propellant.
The primers are modified to slightly protrude out the casing with a flat disk atop to aid with striking.
Activation requires tremendous impact, requiring a committed full swing with the hammer.
Activating the primer ignites the propellant with a minuscule delay, further assisting in driving the stake deeper. The casing is then ejected and separated.
The ignition of the primer additionally activates a delayed fuse that runs through the inside of the stake, triggering an explosion at the tip.
The hammer is reloaded by manually inserting stakes through either end or sliding the insertion into undetonated, implanted stakes. Make sure they’re not facing the wrong way.

Undisturbed rods pinning corpses against the ground created the moniker 'GraveStaker’. This piece of machinery was developed throughout thheir service in the war over the span of several years. Able to be deconstructed into many smaller parts outside of combat to remain untracked by specialist identification companies.
