Wields Load Applications of Interpolation.
Diffusing outward causes The Interloper to Interpolate, a state where the world processes them as an insignificant background element. As a result, people fail to acknowledge their presence despite perceiving them.
Interpolating is non-intensive, able to be sustained for days.
Any actions that require effort or significantly affect the environment will force them out of Interpolation and temporarily disable Interpolation, such as screaming or initiating a fight.
Exiting limbo causes extreme vertigo, with its duration and intensity scaling with the time spent absent. Reentry instantaneously releases a large Burden effect and powerful Load Signal, alerting everybody in the region.
Interpolating causes a building loss of stimuli and focus as time goes on, becoming noticeable after a few hours.
People’s cognitive association linking those memories to The Interloper progressively deteriorate after an encounter. Indirect information is unaffected.
This also extends to memories that have been established before their Vestibule was opened. Instead, those people are unable to connect those memories back to current Interloper. Despite being recognized by familiars, they feel as if The Interloper is a stranger.
For those who knew The Interloper before their Vestibule opened, people’s internal model of The Interloper fails to properly update to their current identity, effectively freezing the relationships they had.
Their outward diffusion lacks the Burden Effect and Load Signal.
Overview
Through repeated patterns of unexplained intelligence leaks, operational abnormalities, and recovered footage depicting an unidentified individual present during confidential military conferences, institutions designated the phenomenon as “The Interloper”.
