Load & Human Biology

Load can be manipulated if an individual possesses a Vestibule, a virtual organ that acts as a passage for Load to diffuse into the body, and allowing control over the diffusion rate.
It is accompanied by Chambers, internal space where Load is kept before it is rerouted.

Vestibules are not tied to genetics and are individually extremely rare. There is no method in detecting if somebody houses a Vestibule, some proceed in life without unlocking it.

Unlocking a Vestibule

A Vestibule can only be unlocked when the individual is placed under extreme emotional or physical stress.

Load Integration into Physiology

As a one diffuses throughout their life, small amounts of Load permanently diffuses and integrates into their physiology through muscles, tendons, and neurons, providing enhanced physicality and accelerated natural healing. Their physicality can additionally intensify scaling with their rate of outward diffusion.
Individuals that had recently opened their Vestibule will experience rapid growth in physiological capability, but quickly falls off as time passes.
Most will experience increased resistance to high-energy trauma.

Exposure to Load-devoid regions significantly reduces integration efficiency.

Load integration causes one's prime years to be significantly extended. Past this stage, individual experience reduced and inconsistent diffusion rates, less effective Load Applications (a later defined sub-system), lowered physical capability, and higher strain from forced outward diffusion.

Load Tattoos

Due to Load being incompatible with Human biology, the body adapts to this new stress and is physically altered by it. The use of Load is visible on the human body, developing tattoos. The placement of these tattoos correlate to which limbs are manipulated most by their Load Application (a later defined sub-system). The tattoo's complexity, intricacy, and crowdedness reflect their length and intensity of usage.

Burden Effect & Load Signals

The outward diffusion of Load causes the those nearby to experience perceptual distortion, known as the Burden Effect.
Symptoms include:
Loss of visual focus
Vertigo
Reduced depth perception
The intensity of the Burden Effect scales with the rate of the diffusion.

In individuals who have recently unlocked their Vestibule, the Burden Effect transitions into Load Signals, instead developing sensations of directionality and intensity from the location of diffusion.

Those constantly subjected to the Burden Effect will build tolerance, significantly lessening its effects, including those caused by Overburdened Regions.
